Lindsay MacPhee is a Level One Reiki Practitioner who received her attunement from Jayne Hunter of Dancing Water Healing in Truro, Nova Scotia in 2004. She has since been practicing Reiki whilst on travels through Australia, back East in Nova Scotia and where she currently resides, in Vancouver, BC.
A recent graduate of the Chemical – Environmental Engineering program at University of British Columbia, Lindsay was never sure if engineering was the right path for her but knew, no matter what road she walked down, she wanted to help people in some way (whether it be providing potable water in desolate areas or administering Reiki to those who requested it).
Much of Lindsay’s interest in alternative healing methods can be attributed to her mother, Nicola, who is a Reiki Master, BioGenesis Practitoner & Quantum Touch Practitioner. Her Mum is one of the main driving forces which gave Lindsay the support and gentle nudges in the right direction, as only a mother could.
Lindsay lives in the lovely Burnaby area with her husband Mike and her younger sister, Allie (both Level One Reiki Practitioners). She spends her time playing board games with friends, teaching herself how to knit, biking around the city for hours with Mike, and dreaming up her [soon-to-be-a-reality] sustainable community home on Galiano Island.
Why Authentic Abundance?
In my final year of university, I had the pleasure of attending a class which opened my eyes and gave me a different perspective on life. Dr Kurt Grimm, is an Earth and Ocean Sciences professor at UBC who goes above and beyond the daily call of what most modern professors are capable of. He infused passion, wisdom and new theories into his teachings and shed so much light onto a lot of life’s little mysteries that it was impossible for me to ignore what Kurt had to say. What really stuck out about Kurt’s teachings, was his definition of Personal Sustainability and Authentic Abundance:
Authentic Abundance perpetuates health and beauty and creates no lasting ugliness. It is a way of being. It isn’t about living in some manufactured, conveyor-belt world. It is what really nourishes your life.
Although difficult at times, I try to live by this simple principle and am always working towards personal betterment. I want to invoke inspiration, heal and contribute to the well-being of those around me. This is my personal take on Reiki in addition to the 5 Reiki principles.
